about

first chapter of the ‘betwixt and between’ trilogy, a series of albums exploring liminality, hybrids and ambiguity.

the word ‘witch’ means a lot of stuff. it’s mainly been used by ignorant and stupid people to denigrate and ridicule that which they could not understand, such as intelligent life or logic or science.
this is not a tribute to witches, nor has anything to do with black cats or flying brooms. today everyone’s someone else’s witch, we just stopped using the word but the hate is still there.

it’s an album about people fearing and hating what other people are or what they are themselves. it’s about men hating women, women hating men, men hating men, women hating women… once again, not much love involved. it’s about how we tend to think of others as “different” in terms of “better” or “worse” instead of appreciating the differences. it’s about over-loving bigot soccer moms, mary-hating priests, colour coding nonsense, bullying and so on; there’s even a song about those great people in the shadows who can see past our genitalia and actually achieve something while we shout at each other.

yay.
